Emberfall Saga
Emberfall Saga is the kind of RPG I didn't expect to sink thirty hours into on a phone. The combat is turn-based and leans on positioning, so you're actually thinking about where your mage stands rather than just mashing the strongest skill. The writing carries it, though — there's a melancholy running through the main quest that most mobile RPGs don't bother with.
The touch controls are smartly done. You drag characters onto grid tiles and the game highlights reach and threat ranges clearly. On a small screen that could've been a disaster, but the tiles scale with a pinch and it never felt cramped. Battery is the weak point: heavy fights with full particle effects will cook your phone over a long session, so I'd turn the effects down a notch in settings.
Progression is generous enough that you never feel stuck behind a grind wall. I appreciated that side quests actually hand you useful gear instead of filler. It's a commute game that respects your time.
