Settings that stop mobile games killing your battery

Most mobile games ship with settings tuned to look flashy in a store screenshot, not to survive a real day away from a charger. The first thing I do with any new install is dig into the menus before I even start playing.

Frame rate cap comes first. A lot of games default to 60 or even 120 fps when you genuinely won't notice the difference in a turn-based RPG. Dropping it to 30 can nearly halve your drain and keep the phone from turning into a hand-warmer.

Next are particle and shadow effects. These eat GPU for breakfast. In strategy games especially, turning effects down made my test phone run an extra forty minutes on a charge, with almost no hit to how the game felt.

Screen brightness and haptics matter more than people think. Constant vibration feedback is a quiet battery vampire, and most games let you tone it down. I keep haptics on only for games where it actually improves the feel.

Finally, check for a background or low-power mode. A surprising number of sim and idle games have one buried away. Flip it on and your evening of play costs a lot less juice.
